Description
The family as a dynamic, interpersonal system is studied as the primary social group, the usual environment for growth and development of children and adults, and the basic unit of the larger community system. Concepts are related to the health care system, family system (family types, characteristics, and structural function of healthy and at-risk families), and risk factors associated with illness and culture. Principles of family assessment and techniques for conducting a home visit and family assessment presented. Health promotion, health maintenance, and disease prevention emphasized in both didactic and clinical components.
