Description
The summer PHYCS 1430 is taken by the ACCESS cohort after their selection as ACCESS Scholarship winners. This integrated science program focuses on weekly laboratory experiments in biology, physics, and chemistry. The glue connecting these experimental selections is collection of mathematical techniques that are taught during the course, and then applied to the experiments which are performed. Taught by faculty from all the departments of the College of Science. An objective of this program is to assist each ACCESS student in making an informed decision about the area of science that will most interest her. During the spring semester each ACCESS student is placed in a research lab somewhere on campus based on her expressed preference, which this summer general education course helped clarify.
