Description
ROOTS?!? Do only trees have these or do people have them too? You bet people have roots! Diverse groups have been in this valley for a long time and we are going to uncover their stories. This is not your average, stale history class, this weekly camp theme is an interesting and engaging discovery focusing on the places around us. No coach potatoes allowed! Travel to the farthest reaches of the valley and have fun at Utah Lake, a place where some of the first inhabitants may have lived! Become a 'farmer for a day' and feed the animals, your brain or your friends while hanging out at Wheeler Farm. Mix art and natural history while investigating your favorite furry, feathered, or finny friends. Discover what really went on at Fort Douglas one hundred years ago. Electives for the 6-9 year olds may include hiking the shoreline trail, Native American folklore, learning about the massive beasts which once lived around Utah, candy making or drumming. Electives for the 10-12 year olds may include visiting the Chase museum at Liberty Park, knitting or learning about dinosaurs.
