Description
Join us as we read and discuss the mystery novel. Discover new authors, American, European, and Asian. Examine the many mystery genres (such as detective, police, forensic, spy, political, and historical) and their illumination of social, anthropological, political, and moral issues. Learn about the history of the mystery novel and discover why the mystery/thriller has not only become respectable reading but has also frequently led the 'New York Times' bestseller lists, in both hardback and paper. We will read one book per month, beginning with Swedish author Henning Mankell's international best seller, 'Faceless Killers'. In preparation for the first class, please read enough of this book to get its flavor, marking pages or sections you would like to discuss. The remaining books will be chosen based on the group's interests. Sandra has a EdD in educational leadership and headed a private school in Philadelphia for more than 20 years. She has been a lover of the mystery genre since childhood.
