OSHER 220 - Using Windows XP to Run Your Computer

Are you unfamiliar with or intimidated by computers? If so, this course is for you! Become comfortable turning one on and using it to find information on line, shop safely for gifts, and set up and use an email account. The course is designed to lower the intimidation factor associated with this useful technology. The instructor has unlimited patience and will take all the time necessary to allay your computer fears. First we'll get familiar with the equipment - how to turn it on and tell it what we want it to do using the mouse, keyboard, and Windows operating system. Then we'll dig into Internet Explorer and the free Yahoo email system. This course encompasses demonstrations and in class and take home exercises. The computer labs are equipped with state-of-the-art PCs. Each student will have their own computer station.
