Description
In 2008 the United States will elect a new President and Vice President, as well as new members of the House of Representatives and 34 members of the Senate. This course will examine the behind-the-scenes details (strategies, personalities, power, and politics) that influence stories in The New York Times about American political and governmental current events. In addition to The Times, the Washington Post, CNN, and NPR radio transcripts will be our sources for breaking stories. Students should come to class prepared to ask hard questions and participate in a lively discussion.
