Description
Designed to complement the UMFA's exhibition Monet to Picasso: 100 Years of European Masterworks from the Cleveland Museum of Art, this class will provide an in-depth look at the featured artists, their works, and their legacies. We'll pay special attention to the cultural, social, and political elements that influenced artistic experimentation and innovation at this time, resulting in visual expressions such as Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and Early Modernism. Each session will include non-public hours to view the exhibit, allowing for close scrutiny of the more than 70 works of art by luminaries such as Degas, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, and Dali. UMFA docent, docent trainer, and teacher Gladys Muren holds an MA in art history. Special fee covers daily admission to the exhibit ($75 value). Co-sponsored with the UMFA.
