Description
Enjoy a fun, informative evening while learning cooking basics. We'll start with a description of the small tools needed to make your kitchen functional, then move into knife skills: how to chop and slice to impress your friends. Sauces and seasonings are next. We'll cover the five mother sauces, when to add seasonings to your dishes, and how to keep it all simple. Then on to the cooking! We'll get tips on sauteing, roasting, braising, grilling, and simmering as we prepare a menu of steak salad and seafood pasta with ratatouille, then finish with a berried Twinkie with chipotle chocolate sauce. As we go, we'll talk about how to kick up simple prepared ingredients to make your dishes stand out. Cooking skills are not required, but a sense of humor and inquiring mind are! Please bring a paring knife and your favorite chopping knife.
