Description
Romanticism is a way of viewing the world. We'll study the elements of classic British literature to develop insight into this world view, reading some examples (Keats, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley, etc.). Then we?ll fast forward to modern America to consider how these elements are manifesting in politics, the entertainment industry, and current literature. The class will select modern works to include ? perhaps a book of nonfiction which influenced the last election or a best seller ? and a movie to see and discuss. From an opening survey, we can determine if views of what is "Romantic" change during the course of our exploration.
