Description
The myths, symbols, and meanings of the American West are best approached from an interdisciplinary perspective. We will use the lens of history to study Buffalo Bill's Wild West show, the lens of folklore to explore the living artistic/musical traditions of both the "cowboy? and the "Indian?, and the lens of literature to examine the interplay between the vast Western landscape and the political consciousness of those who are drawn to this region. Class members are invited to participate by both asking questions and sharing their perspectives. Anticipate a lively discussion!
