Description
We're throwing away the chalkboard and teaching kids to think about numbers in a totally different way. Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication facts are crucial skills to master and many kids have a hard time learning them. While these concepts are often taught through worksheets, we think doing worksheets is as much fun for kids as filling out tax forms is for adults. Research has shown that a better way is to first show the relationship between numbers and then use practice and repetition, not through photocopies, but through active games. This is where we come in. This summer Higher Ground Learning will be hosting the first annual Math Olympics. In this five-day workshop geared toward elementary students, kids will start the day 'training,' i.e. learning a math concept. Then, they'll spend the second half of the day using this knowledge to compete for the gold in our Math Olympics events!
