Description
The Louvre, the Musee Rodin, the Musee d'Orsay, the Orangerie-Paris is full of major art museums. Art also lives in small neighborhood museums such as the Picasso and the Delacroix, in the city's various architectural treasures, in its sculpture gardens, and in its galleries and shops. So little time, so much art?what's an art lover to do? In this class, we will look at what is available in the various media (textiles, illuminated manuscripts, painting, sculpture, architecture, photography), highlight works in the most famous museums, and suggest must-see, off-the-beaten-track museums. Class will cover major works from ancient to contemporary as well as lesser known gems and special finds. Whether you are traveling to Paris by plane or by armchair, don't miss the opportunity to savor all that the City of Light has to offer.
