Description
Have a children's book idea in mind but not sure how to get started? In this workshop, you will storyboard a picture book, then create a dummy by hand that will help refine your storytelling skills. Along the way you will learn the fundamentals: character development, background setting, pacing and rhythm, and clarifying text with picture readability. Discussions and critiques will help you discover/refine your illustration style. We'll also examine portfolios to see what type of art to display and which promotional materials work best. We'll cover query letters, sources for publishing house addresses and contact names, and what to include in your mailing. Please bring a sketch pad and drawing materials of your choice to the first class.
