Description
Meets with ART 3045 & BIOL 3035. This class will introduce students to the Colorado Plateau ecosystem within the context of the Intermountain West and the discipline of Landscape Ecology. topics will include issues of water availability, seasonal fluxes in water quantity and quality, livestock grazing (current and past), landscape patterns of vegetation, plant ecology and adaptations to arid environments, invasive species, soils, microbes, wildlife and natural history as they relate to the Colorado Plateau, as well as human history and challenges to encouraged to register for both courses. A significant portion of the course will take place at the University of Utah's Rio Mesa Center on the Colorado Plateau.
