Description
Meets with SW 702. This course is designed to help students begin the career-long task of ongoing professional development. Students will work to build their level of skill in areas such as professional communication and research. Students will be given the opportunity to practice solution oriented approaches to working as professionals in the field of substance abuse counseling with an ongoing emphasis on ethical decision making and working as members of interdisciplinary boundaries, and self-care will be emphasized. This course is essential in the formation of the "professional self," i.e. making the transition from a sponsor to the helping professional.
