Description
Our universe is made more amazing when we are guided to perceive the many hidden worlds that scientists seek to understand. These range in spatial scale from dust particles to whole galaxies. Prominent University of Utah researchers will share what their microscopes, field notebooks, and telescopes have revealed to expand what we know about those parts of our world that are not apparent to our eyes. Class topics include "Go to the Ant, Consider her Ways"; "Using Mathematical Models to See the Invisible"; "What Makes the Flu-like Viruses so Effective: Looking Under the Hood of a Virus at the Engine of Replication"; "Mars for Earthlings: Using Earth Analogs to Decode the Sedimentary Record of Mars"; "Harnessing the Poisons of Rainforest Plants for Medicines and Conservation"; and "Exploring Your Hidden Self with the Real Anatomy Dissectible Cadaver".
