Description
What is considered "art" has changed throughout time. We will examine that evolution by studying art from the 19th century through today---the centuries of the "isms" (from Impressionism to Post-Modernism), and explore the relationships between culture and the art forms produced by the culture at a particular time. Some core questions will be "What are the events that shape artistic expression?" and "What constitutes 'popular' versus 'academic' art??
