Description
The coop is built, the ladies have moved in and now you're waiting for those first eggs. What next? What happens if one of your prized hens becomes ill? How will you recognize the symptoms? On the first day of class we will take a detailed focus on bird health, biosecurity, and disease recognition. You will learn how to tell if one of your hens is under the weather, how you should deal with pest infestations and where to go if you have problems. On day two we will discuss different breeds, reproduction habits, egg handling and care, and exhibition poultry. Co-sponsored with Wasatch Community Gardens.
