Description
Meets with ECS 6665. This course addresses the ways in which the visual arts (both within and outside of schools) can help shape our understanding of educational equity and promote engagement with social justice inquiry. Students will be invited to bring into play their interests and talents with regard to the visual arts, but no professional background in the arts is required. The final paper may take one of two forms: a theoretical discussion of an issue in social justice and art education; or a project that involves teaching art in relation to social justice (either in the community or in the schools), documented and discussed in a shorter paper, along with some form of visual documentation.
