Description
This course is designed to provide students with evidence-based practices that are fundamental to working with clients with substance related disorders. Emphasis will be placed on preparing students to recognize such disorders, to assess multiple dimensions of clients' lives that may be effected by the abuse, and th intervene effectively with individual, group and family therapies as they are applied specifically to clients with substance related disorders. The course will also address methods for enhancing motivation to change. Teaching methods will include lecture, discussion, training videotapes and experiential exercises in individual, group and family techniques.
