Description
This is an online course in which students examine preventive approaches to midlife transitions by applying positive psychological skills to enhance subjective well-being. Recent studies have indicated that midlife appears to be the longest sustained period of unhappiness as compared to young adulthood and the older years. Positive psychological strategies presented include selective optimalization, learned optimism, emotional intelligence, and flourishing. Students use a hands-on approach by interviewing midlife adults, analyzing data, and applying positive psychology strategies to midlife transitions.
