Description
This course will be a journey through the issues and complexity involved in the medical patient experience within a broad range of healthcare settings. The course will use a design-based problem solving approach to engage, investigate and ultimately propose solutions that might help create a better patient experience. Students will engage in site visits, clinician shadowing, lectures, activities, exercises, presentations and multidisciplinary thinking to engage in the process of developing innovative ideas to initiate change. These solutions will not only be beneficial to patients but also to hospitals who are working in an increasingly competitive landscape. This will be done with "design thinking" as the overall problem solving approach to bridge between the rational and quantitative and emotional and qualitative.
