Description
Provides the basic introduction and overview of management of public lands and natural resources. The course begins with the history of acquisition, disposition and management of the public lands, including allocation of authority within the federal government and between federal and state governments. After an introduction to how federal procedures are governed by the National Environmental Policy Act and the Administrative Procedure Act, the course then looks at each of the six major resource areas: minerals, timber, range, wildlife, water, recreation, and preservation. Throughout the course, the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of natural resource policy and conflicts will be examined.
