Description
Working with metal doesn't always require a torch and chemicals. Explore techniques in jewelry making using cold connections. Students will create a unique pendant and 2 pairs of earrings, including handmade ear wires, using essential jewelry making hand tools. Techniques covered will be texturing, stamping, cutting, drilling, piercing and filing metals, wire wrapping, oxidizing and finishing. Materials fee covers metal sheet (copper and brass), a sterling silver disc, sterling silver wire, leather or wax string and jump rings for a pendant and 2 pairs of earrings. Students are encouraged to bring any favorite hand tools they have and beads they would like to incorporate into their pieces.
