Description
Working with metal doesn't always require a torch and chemicals. Explore techniques in jewelry making using cold connections. Students will create a mixed metal cuff bracelet and a pair of earrings or pendant using 'cold connections' such as riveting and wire wrapping. Techniques covered will be texturing, stamping, cutting, drilling, piercing and filing metals, wire wrapping, oxidizing and finishing. Materials fee covers metal sheet (copper, brass and sterling silver) sterling silver wire, leather or wax string and jump rings for a cuff bracelet, a pendant and a pair of earrings. Students are encouraged to bring any favorite hand tools they have and beads they would like to incorporate into their pieces.
