Description
Students will be exposed to the socio-technical perspective regarding humans, systems of varying kinds and levels and their interactions within healthcare contexts. Models, theories, and methods pertinent to human-systems interactions frame the course. Cognitive psychology content, such perception, cognition motivation, judgment and errors in decision-making are reviewed. Human-computer interaction principles are outlined, concentrating on user-centered design, interface design principles and usability testing. Ergonomics and device engineering concepts are reviewed. Sociological aspects of organizations and team science are also described. These perspectives are applied to healthcare informatics and the design and implementation of health systems technology and work design.
