Description
Explore the work of some of the great poets of the 20th century, including Robert Frost, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Sylvia Plath, and Dorothy Parker. While we will deal with a few essential literary terms and poetic devices, the main purpose of the class will be to read and appreciate modern poetry---not as an esoteric, academic study, but as a vital and picturesque reflection of our own experiences and behavior and, of course, to glory in the beauty of language. For those who think they won't understand or who might be a little squeamish about poetry, rest assured. This course will be taught in a comfortable, supportive environment.
