OSHER 533 - Beginning Kiln Fired Glass (pendants and small pieces)

Explore the fascinating art of kiln-fired glass melting. We will work with with fusible stained glass, millifiori, small specialty glass pieces, and dichroic glass. In the first session students will assemble several small jewelry-size pieces that will be returned the second week of class so you can admire the results. The second and third sessions will cover basic glass cutting to create a small dish. The course will include safety procedures, design, tools, equipment, kiln schedules, elements of assembly for firing, and glass reactions and troubleshooting. Students will be rewarded with 8-9 finished pieces of fused kiln-fired glass at the end of three classes.
