Description
Students will examine the scope of artist production across the European continent during the one and a half millennia in which Christianity grew to prominence. in lecture, discussion, and written essays, the class evaluates qualities of art and architecture to explore themes such as appropriation, transmission, display, and reception. Students will be able to situate the work, the patron, and the viewer within the multicultural social fabric of the era now called the Middle Ages.
