Description
The primary purpose of the elective is to provide students tools and the experience to provide outreach education programs to a variety of audiences. It is our hope that after graduation, students will continue to provide poison prevention education in the community in which they practice. The Utah Poison Control Center provides outreach poison prevention education to at risk groups in the community. Outreach education efforts are directed to parents of children under six years of age, pre-school students, and older adults. Focus of outreach efforts includes minority groups and other disadvantaged groups. Examples of programs include presentations at Horizonte House, participation in the Junior League Care Fair, JEDI Woman?s group and many other programs.
