Description
In this course the students will develop the relationship between arithmetic and algebra which is the basis of middle school curriculum. The students will develop the knowledge of the real number system from advanced standpoint in a way that is usable in middle school classroom and supports students' development of the concepts of integers, rational and irrational numbers. The students will become fluent with a variety of tools: pictorial representations, tables, graphs, and algebraic equations and expressions and be able to make connections between different topics. The students will examine ways in which the children learn the fundamentals of rational number, ratio and proportion, and how those extend to algebraic thinking.
