Description
Meets with ANTH 4550. Beginning Shoshone Language II is an intensive language course primarily focusing on the Western Shoshone dialect of Eastern Nevada. The expertise of fluent speakers of Northern Shoshone and Goshute will also be utilized to further illustrate dialect variation throughout Shoshone country. The course will focus primarily on verbal communication in Shoshone through lessons in vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. The instruction of Shoshone reading and writing will be done in the Wick Miller writing system used in the University of Utah. The objectives of the course are aligned with the level 2 World Language Standards and the Great Basin Native Language Standards.
