Description
The purpose of this course is to explore the implementation of a reflective cycle in which goals, assessments, and new directions are identified. Through reading and discussing relevant research literature students will be introduced to several reflective teaching models and will practice the use of multiple reflective strategies, including observational learning, reflective teaching, reflective journals, case studies, mental models, and action research. Given its focus on reflective practice, specific focus will be placed on the process for gaining national board certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. This course will also provide a review of the research literature on teacher career cycle, focusing specifically on how teacher reflection can positively impact one's career path.
