Description
Explore a new medium and learn everything you need to know to carve and press a wood block print. We will cover how to tone and seal the wood, transfer images on to the block, handle your Japanese carving tools, and learn how print with the press or by hand. You will work with Western and Eastern printmaking papers and learn the advantages to oil based inks and water soluble inks all while exploring the works of known woodcut artists: Leonard Baskin, Swoon, Tom Huck, Alic Tipoti, Albrecht Durer and Artemio Rodriguez. Class is limited to 8.
