Description
Meets with ANTH 4502. This course considers how a language reflects the social identities of members of its speech community both within the community and the outside world. Since the relationship between language and identity is dynamic, the course will show how language variation correlates with social class, ethnicity, male and female gender roles, and regional and national identity.
