Description
This introductory course integrates demography with biological and evolutionary perspectives to explore how the distribution and density of people fundamentally shapes many aspects of the human condition. The course is intended to give students an overview of birth and death processes and population dynamics both as they have changed through time and differ today across human societies. The course takes an in-depth look at three major components of population change-- birth, death, and migration. The course introduces simple computations and a lab on how to graphically present demographic data.
