Description
Place, one of five foundation themes of geography, is more than location. Place connects us with location. Those connections range from our understanding of the natural world, to appreciation of beauty, to emotional response. Geography's path toward a sense of place relies on an understanding of interactions among subsystems of Earth (physical geography) and an appreciation of relationships that tie together people, places and environment. This course explores "a sense of place" via principles of physical geography, reinforced through explorations of place-based literature, and through kinesthetic expressions of place via the art and discipline of yoga.
