Prerequisites: "C-" or better in (ME EN 3300 AND MATH 2250 AND (PHYS 2210 OR PHYS 3210 OR AP Phys C:Mech of 4 or better)) AND Full Major status in Mechanical Engineering.
Description
Meets with ME EN 6540 and BIOEN 6250. Introduction to the mechanics of biological tissues, with an emphasis on large deformations; index and direction notation, tensors, deformation gradient, conservation laws, finite deformation strain and stress tensors, constitutive equations, hyperelasticity, cell mechanics, ligaments and tendons, skin, blood vessels, skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, smooth muscle, and the constitutive/flow properties of blood.
