Description
Meets with MUSIC 6660. An expansive survey of music in the United States, this course explores the diverse and distinct musical traditions of the peoples who have established themselves in this country. Selected music of our First People and of immigrant groups from the colonial period through the present will be considered. The Americanization of the European classical tradition will be examined, and the paths of folk, popular, and religious genres will be traced.
