Description
Paris is one of the most exciting cities in the world for the visual arts. During the period 1870-1940, under the French Third Republic, the city was second to none in generating and drawing the finest artists in the world. This course will examine the art, artists, artistic alliances, and politics of art in Paris during this period. The city of Paris itself and its environs will be examined as a hub for the exchange of brilliant, modern ideas. Special attention will be paid to some of the Utah artists who travelled to Paris and their impact on the course of art.
