Description
This comic opera is more enjoyable with advance insight about the performance. Take a sneak preview into the Utah Opera's presentation of The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The original Beaumarchais play was banned in Vienna. Mozart's librettist, Lorenzo Da Ponte, rewrote it to achieve the approval of Emperor Joseph II. With Mozart's music, it has become a cornerstone of the standard operatic repertoire. The Marriage of Figaro continues the plot of Beaumarchais' The Barber of Seville and recounts a single "day of madness" in the palace of Count Almaviva, near Seville.
