Description
Pharmacology and Toxicology integrates chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and medicine. This lecture and literature discussion-based course will cover a range of topics relevant to understanding the basis for beneficial (therapeutic) and detrimental (toxicologic) chemical actions in humans. Topics will include definitions of therapeutic versus adverse effects, the underlying physiological mechanisms governing the absorption, distribution, and removal of chemicals; receptor theory, and more, as they relate to the treatment of causation of human disorders and diseases.
