Description
Tissue engineering requires a design process that integrates a number of broad and complex fields including biomaterials, cell biology, biomechanics, and many others. How do engineers navigate such a broad design space? This course will investigate the selection of materials, cell source, and signaling components to produce functional whole tissue/organ systems based on specified design requirements. Additionally, this course will put this design process in the framework of the current regulatory environment governing tissue-engineered therapeutics by the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (FDA) and European Medicines Agency.
