Description
This course will review and describe the various architectural components that comprise modern clinical information systems. The course will examine clinical data repositories, terminology servers, and interface engines. How these components may be linked together using various technologies will be described. The course will also review architectures for the clinical application layer. How these components are used in the public health and translational and clinical research environments will be analyzed. Other architectural considerations such as mobile technology and service oriented architectures will also be presented. Throughout the semester, the role of the informaticist in CIS architecture will be emphasized.
