Description
Learning how to be a leader is imerative to student success while attending an institution of higher learning like the University of Utah. Becoming an effective leader is partly determined by organizational climate, context, culture, and community relationships. While the options to join organizations are plentiful, this BlockU, which has a Black ethnic cultural emphasis, teaches students how to utilize their holistic identifies (e.g. Black, Queer, Male) to enhance leadership practices and contributions. Further, students participate in creating a community activism project designed to bridge knowledge gaps between academe and needs of people of color throughout Salt Lake City.
