Description
Aspiring young artists will explore the comic book as a wholly developed narrative; commonly referred to as graphic novels, these works of art combine highly developed themes and visual art in one piece. Instruction will center on style, story, and design elements. Join professional comics author/illustrator Jess Smart Smiley as he walks you through the tools and techniques that comics, artists, and writers use to make their comics for print, the web, and mobile devices. Come ready to create mind-blowing stories, develop exciting characters, explore word balloons and page layouts, draw with pen and ink, and (of course) make comics! We'll explore some of our favorite comics and find out what makes them so great. At the end of the week students will have a large collection of ideas and an ever-growing portfolio to carry them into realizing their creative genius.
