PRTS 450 - 001 NR-Ski Teaching-Beg


This course is designed for students that know how to ski and who are interested in learning to teach skiing at a professional level. The course will cover strategies, theories, lifestyles and other topics related to skiing. Students will learn about building trust, assessing skills and emotions, setting goals, designing lesson plans and creating a safe and fun atmosphere for others on snow. During the first part of the fall semester, classes will be held at the U of U. During the second half of the semester, classes will meet at Brighton Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon (see date range below). Students will need to provide their own transportation to the Brighton Resort. Classroom meetings in 2017: Sept 8, 15, 22, 29, Oct 6, 20, 27, Nov 3. Field/on-snow sessions at Brighton Ski Resort: Nov 11, 12, 18, 19, Dec 2 & 3. All field sessions will take place at Brighton Resort.
