Description
This course is designed to provide an introductory survey of healthcare for technology oriented graduate students without prior clinical training or experience who need to work and communicate in the modern clinical environment. The course introduces basic concepts of the medical vocabulary, anatomy, pathophysiology and clinical disease management for selected organ systems and healthcare specialties. Evaluation and use of medical records, clinical decision making, and medical education are covered. During the laboratory section, students are also exposed to the medical environment through tours of clinical settings and participation in clinical conferences and rounding observations.
