Description
In this seminar students will examine education and schooling as approached form the relatively new academic field of anthropology and education. As cultural anthropologists study the full range of diversity of human practices, they study culture in all of its manifestations. In the regard, from the perspective of anthropologists of education, all forms of teaching and learning (formal school being only one of these) and "education." Education is what people do to teach across and within the generations, and the norms, values, ethics, and intellectual thought of each culture and society.
