Description
The fifth in a series of six clinical courses, this course provides additional opportunity for the Psychiatric Mental Nurse Practitioner student to increase proficiency in the provision of psychiatric mental health care. Emphasis is placed on refinement of interviewing and communication skills and determination of working diagnosis. Focus also includes sophistication of psychotherapy skills and initiation of a comprehensive treatment plan in the management of mental illness to include psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Incorporation of mental health promotion concepts and interpretation of exam findings and laboratory results is expected.
